Record What Went In The Bin

Keep a dated record of wasted flowers and other stock.

A bunch damaged in delivery and stems left after a peak day have different causes. Record the item, quantity, cost and reason while the details are still clear.

Choose flowers from your list or add a custom item such as a broken vase. Choose Stems or Bunches and check the recorded bunch size from your flower list. For example, 2 bunches of 20 count as 40 stems. Add notes and a supplier where relevant, then save the entry against its date.

Open Recent Entries to review or correct a saved entry.

Follow Supplier Claims Through To The Outcome

Keep the amount requested separate from the credit received.

Record the supplier and the amount you are asking for on the wasted item. Contact the supplier yourself: the tracker keeps your record of the claim and does not send it.

In Claims, update the outcome when you receive a reply. Record a full or partial credit, a refusal, replacement stock, or a claim you decide not to pursue. You can export the claims as CSV for a separate record.

Net wastage subtracts credits marked as received from gross wastage cost. An outstanding request or replacement stock does not count as money received.

Compare Wastage Over Time

See the cost by period, reason and supplier.

Open Analytics to review gross wastage, credits received and net loss for the selected period. Compare the results with the previous period and look at which reasons or suppliers account for the cost.

Use your recorded losses alongside the Arrangement Calculator when reviewing recipe costs, or the Operating Cost Calculator for the wider costs of running your shop.

How To Record Wastage

  1. Add wasted items. Pick flowers from your list or add custom items like pots or vases.
  2. Set quantities & reason. Choose stems or bunches, enter cost, and select why it was wasted.
  3. Record a supplier claim. Name the supplier and record the credit requested. Contact the supplier separately, then update the claim outcome and any amount received.
  4. Review the breakdown. Open saved entries or compare gross wastage, received credits and net loss in Analytics.
