Who they are

OASIS Floral Products is the trade name of Smithers Oasis Ltd, the UK arm of the global Smithers-Oasis company. The OASIS name goes back to 1954, when chemist V.L. Smithers developed water-absorbing floral foam in Kent, Ohio. That single product reshaped how florists handle arrangements, and OASIS is now one of the most recognised names in the trade worldwide.

In the UK, OASIS Floral Foam is manufactured at the company's factory in Washington, Tyne and Wear. The registered office sits on the Crowther Industrial Estate in Washington (NE38 0AQ).

What they supply

OASIS is a B2B supplier to the trade, not a retail shop. The trade website lists over 4,000 products, so it covers far more than the green brick most florists picture. Alongside foam in its many forms, the range runs to foam frames and bases for sympathy work, containers in ceramic, glass and metal, packaging, ribbon, wires, tools and adhesives.

The brand sits within a wider Smithers-Oasis family that includes Floralife post-harvest flower care, so the product reach extends across the supply chain from grower to workroom.

The foam-free conversation

Floral foam has come under real scrutiny over plastic and microplastics in waterways, and OASIS engages with that debate rather than ignoring it. The company has published a detailed response to academic research on foam's effects in water, and points florists to its eco-floristry range for foam-free and lower-impact work.

It is worth being precise here. OASIS Renewal is a plant-based foam, with roughly 83% biobased content and a 4-star OK biobased certification from TUV Austria. The company reports a 56% lower carbon footprint cradle-to-grave than its petroleum-based foam, per analysis by the nova-Institut. OASIS does not currently claim Renewal is compostable or biodegradable, and says that certification testing is still in progress.

Who it serves

The customer base is the trade: professional florists, wedding and event stylists, and other design businesses buying for sympathy, celebration and everyday work. Sustainability sits at the centre of recent product development through the company's Big Green Plan 2030, a sustainability plan built around environmental, social and governance goals.
