What they do

COM:POST is a green-waste collection and composting service made specifically for florists. You fill a compostable sack with stems, foliage and trimmings. They collect it, compost it locally to PAS100 standard, and the finished peat-free compost goes back to British growers. A closed loop, with nothing sent to landfill or incineration.

The service is run by Better Environment Company Ltd and launched to the public in March 2024.

Who is behind it

Co-founded by Hannah Martin, a working florist with 25-plus years in the trade, and Fiona Knowlton, whose background is in commercial business development. Hannah knew the problem first-hand: florists generate a lot of green waste and had no proper route to deal with it. The pair built COM:POST around how a shop or studio actually works.

Where they collect

In London, COM:POST runs its own fleet and drivers. Beyond the capital, they collect through Hoek Flowers delivery hubs, including Bristol (covering the South West and into Wales) and Swanley (covering London and surrounding counties). The UK rollout is still widening, so coverage in your area is worth checking directly.

Who it serves

Florists of every size, from home-based makers to large event studios and venues. They also handle one-off event collections. The team has set a stated target of diverting one million tonnes from landfill and incineration by summer 2026.
