Who he is

Joseph Massie is a Liverpool-born floral artist, educator, author and broadcaster with around 20 years in the trade. He started on a local flower stall at 14 and won the British Florist Association's Young Florist of the Year in 2007.

He went on to take five consecutive RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medals and four Best in Show awards across 2009 to 2013, the youngest person to do so. In September 2024 he was named the British Florist Association's UK Florist of the Year.

What he teaches

Massie teaches working florists and serious students, not hobby crash courses. Online, his Flower Class membership gives access to his masterclasses plus a large library of tutorials, with live coaching and a community alongside the lessons.

The masterclasses cover the jobs florists actually charge for: weddings, installations, centrepieces and high-end everyday arrangements. He also wrote The Flower School (Quadrille, May 2022), a design book drawing on his two decades with flowers.

In-person training

Hands-on classes run at the UK School of Floristry in Salford, Greater Manchester. The school covers beginner courses, longer career courses and professional intensives for florists who already trade.

He also runs his own design studio, Joseph Massie Studio, and co-hosts the Flowers After Hours podcast with Matthew Landers on the business behind the bench.

Who it suits

Florists who want to lift the standard of their wedding, event and installation work, and newcomers wanting a proper grounding rather than a weekend taster. The online side reaches florists anywhere; the courses run in Salford.
